IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatment in Dublin
Refresh and revive your skin with our results-driven IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) skin rejuvenation treatment in Dublin. We remove pigment, redness, and imperfections from your skin, giving you a radiant, youthful look with our Nordlys IPL system. IPL uses light to treat various skin conditions, making it a less harmful and cost-effective method than similar skin rejuvenation treatment options.
What Is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatment?
IPL therapy is a popular skin rejuvenation treatment in Dublin. Also known as photofacial, it uses targeted broad-spectrum light to repair skin issues, like sun-damage, to give you a more smooth, vibrant, clear, and supple appearance.
Unlike lasers, which use a single wavelength, IPL treatment in our Nordlys system sends a pulse-series of filtered wavelengths towards skin imperfections. This wide range allows our beauty experts to customise and adapt settings as per your skin needs, so you’re getting a personalised treatment.
The IPL device generates controlled photothermal heat below the epidermis, destroying imperfect cells while preserving surrounding tissues. When your body completes the healing, your scars are gone, pores are enlarged, and your skin becomes younger due to new collagen production.
How does IPL work?
Our Nordlys IPL device gently delivers a rapid burst of light into your skin. The energy from the broad wavelength spectrum is selectively absorbed by irregular pigmented cells, enlarged blood vessels and other abnormalities on your skin.
Because the light targets the flawed cells, it allows the body to naturally clear out the damaged tissue without unnecessary treatment to the cells that don’t need it. Our experts carefully control the pulse spares and ensure to protect the topmost skin layer.
After treatment, you may feel some inflammation as healing processes begin, as it is restarting collagen and elastin fibre production.
The process plumps up your skin, shrinking pores and fine lines and ends in skin rejuvenation. Our beauty therapists ensure maxim safety and tailor the process as per your needs.
Which types of skin concerns can be addressed with IPL?
IPL skin rejuvenation caters to various skin concerns. The downtime is lesser than when compared to typical laser skin treatments. Some of the most common skin concerns it addresses are:
- Age spot pigmentation
- Redness from broken veins or rosacea
- Acne-prone and congested skin
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Scarring from acne or injuries
- Pores and rough skin texture
- Unwanted hair (facial)
- Brown spots
- Sun-damaged skin
- Birthmarks and stretch marks

Before IPL Treatment
Before you book an appointment for your IPL treatment and skin rejuvenation at our Ranelagh centre, ensure you know how to best prepare.
Inform our beauty technicians of all skin care products and supplements you use. Stop the use of topical retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids and acne creams like benzoyl peroxide 2 weeks before your appointment time.
Also, don’t get any laser facial hair removal or chemical peels on treatment areas in the month prior. Arrive with clean and dry bare skin at our beauty centre. Don’t wear any fragrances, cosmetics, lotions, or sunscreens. This can interfere with light absorption and increase the chance of skin irritation after your treatment finishes.
Recovery From IPL Treatment
Recovery from intense pulsed light treatment is quick, unlike laser treatment options. You will feel some redness and warmth for a couple of hours immediately after the treatment.
You might also get raised dark-pigmented lesions that will crust and flake off over the next 7-14 days, revealing fresh skin. Cooling and hydrating the complexion with aloe vera gel helps soothe at this stage.
Don’t pick or scrub the treated areas, which can risk infection or pigmentation to come back. Use gentle cleansers and apply SPF30 minimum sunscreen daily for 2-3 months. Also, you can wear makeup after 48 hours if your skin is calm without irritation. Some patients have some residual redness for up to a couple of weeks post-treatment.
Who Should Get IPL Treatment?
If you have pale skin with light hair colour, intense pulsed light skin rejuvenation can be effective for you. An ideal treatment if you want to erase moderate sun damage, spots, rosacea, mild scars and signs of ageing non-surgically.
Who Shouldn’t Get IPL Treatment?
IPL is slower to produce results on darker tones which have more melanin in the skin. Also, avoid IPL if you’re pregnant, have light sensitivities, use retinol skin cream, or might have skin cancer. Consult your doctor about applying IPL if you’re on photosensitive medications.
