Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage
Side-lying with cushioned support, gentle to medium pressure, and pregnancy-safe oils. Focused on lower back, hips, shoulders, legs and feet. Abdominal massage is avoided.
Why pregnancy massage
Pregnancy places significant physical demands on the body. As posture shifts and weight increases through the second and third trimesters, many expectant mothers experience lower back pain, hip tightness, swollen ankles, leg cramps, and disrupted sleep. Pregnancy massage offers a safe, gentle way to ease these changes, reducing muscular tension, encouraging circulation, calming the nervous system, and supporting better rest. Many clients find it one of the most deeply relaxing treatments they experience during pregnancy.
Our approach
Every pregnancy massage at Haku is performed in a supported side-lying position with cushioned bolsters, the safest and most comfortable position for expectant mothers from the second trimester onwards. We use pregnancy-safe, fragrance-appropriate oils and apply gentle to medium pressure focused on the lower back, hips, shoulders, legs and feet. Abdominal massage is avoided entirely. Our therapists are trained in prenatal massage and will check in throughout the treatment.

Frequently asked
Is pregnancy massage safe?
Yes, when performed by a trained therapist from the second trimester (12 weeks) onwards. We use a supported side-lying position, pregnancy-safe oils, and avoid the abdomen entirely. For high-risk pregnancies or any complications, we recommend checking with your doctor or midwife before booking.
When can I start pregnancy massage?
We offer pregnancy massage from 12 weeks onwards, in line with prenatal massage best practice. We do not offer massage during the first trimester.
What position are you in during pregnancy massage?
You will be lying on your side throughout the treatment, supported by cushioned bolsters for comfort and safety. This position removes any pressure from the abdomen and is the recommended position for prenatal massage at all stages of pregnancy.
What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?
Pregnancy massage can ease lower back pain, reduce hip and leg tension, relieve swelling in the ankles and feet, improve circulation, calm the nervous system, and support better sleep. Many clients also find it an important time to simply rest and be cared for during a physically demanding period.
Is pregnancy massage available in the third trimester?
Yes. We offer pregnancy massage throughout the second and third trimesters. Please let us know how many weeks pregnant you are when booking, and flag any complications so your therapist can adapt the treatment appropriately.
