Hair thinning and scalp: what Haku does, and doesn't do
Can Haku help with hair loss or thinning?
No. Haku doesn't treat hair loss or thinning hair, and nothing we offer is a treatment for it. Start with your GP, who can check for causes such as low iron or thyroid problems, or see a trichologist. What we do offer is scalp-focused care: the shop's scalp products, and a head spa at Haku Blackrock as time to relax.
What we do offer
Who to see about hair loss
See your GP first, and promptly if you notice:
- round, patchy bald spots, or hair coming out suddenly
- a scalp that is sore, scaly, bleeding or scarred
- shedding along with other changes, such as tiredness or weight change
Your GP can arrange blood tests and refer you on. A trichologist specialises in hair and scalp; a dermatologist is a doctor who does.

Questions
Will a head spa help my hair grow?
No. A head spa is cleansing, massage and a warm waterfall head bath. It is about how your scalp and hair feel on the day, not how much hair you have. For thinning or hair loss, see your GP or a trichologist.
Is it normal to lose some hair every day?
Some daily shedding is normal. If your parting is widening, your ponytail feels thinner, or hair comes out in patches, see your GP.
Do you sell scalp products?
Yes. The shop has shampoos and treatments for a dry, tight or flaky scalp, and a page on thinning hair that starts with what to ask your GP.
