A Japanese Head Spa is a scalp and hair treatment designed to deeply relax the client, improve scalp health, and promote beautiful, healthy hair. We offer Kerastase, Oway and Shu Uemura systems during our headspas depending on the scalp analysis and client preferences.
What is a Japanese head spa?
A Japanese head spa is a scalp and hair treatment that began in Japan, where scalp care is taken as seriously as skincare. It is not a shampoo and treatment in a salon chair. It is a full ritual, scalp analysis, deep cleansing, scalp massage and treatment, ending with the waterfall head bath.
At Haku Blackrock, we use Takara Belmont Yume beds, imported from Japan. These are the beds used in Japanese head spa clinics in Tokyo and Osaka. They are not available anywhere else in Ireland. Every treatment begins with a foot soak and includes a scalp camera analysis before anything else begins.

What is a scalp camera analysis?
A scalp camera is a magnifying device that allows your therapist to assess your scalp condition, including oil levels, follicle health, dryness, and sensitivity, before treatment begins. Every Haku head spa begins with this analysis so the treatment and products can be precisely matched to your scalp's needs on the day.
How long does a Japanese head spa take at Haku?
Head spa treatments at Haku range from 40 minutes (Mini Head Spa) to 100 minutes (Platinum Yume Experience). All treatments include a simple blow-dry at the end. A professional blow-dry can be added for €28.
Do I need to do anything before my head spa appointment?
No special preparation is needed. Come with your hair in its natural state, there is no need to wash it beforehand, as deep cleansing is included in every treatment. Avoid heavy product build-up if possible.
Is the head spa only available at Blackrock?
Yes. The YUME Head Spa experience with Takara Belmont Yume beds is exclusively available at our Blackrock location. A Dry Japanese Head Spa (without the Yume bed) is available at both Ranelagh and Blackrock.
