A Japanese head spa is a scalp and hair treatment that began in Japan, where scalp care is taken as seriously as skincare. It is not a shampoo and treatment in a salon chair. It is a full ritual, scalp analysis, deep cleansing, scalp massage and treatment, ending with the waterfall head bath.
At Haku Blackrock, we use Takara Belmont Yume beds, imported from Japan. These are the beds used in Japanese head spa clinics in Tokyo and Osaka. They are not available anywhere else in Ireland. Every treatment except the Mini Head Spa begins with a foot soak, and all treatments include a scalp camera analysis before anything else begins.
We use Kerastase, Oway and Shu Uemura systems, chosen from the scalp analysis and your preferences. Every head spa finishes with a simple blow-dry (the Shiseido ritual includes a professional one), and a professional blow-dry can be added for €28.

It is closer to a spa experience than a salon treatment.
What is a scalp camera analysis?
A scalp camera is a magnifying device that allows your therapist to assess your scalp condition, including oil levels, follicle health, dryness, and sensitivity, before treatment begins. Every Haku head spa begins with this analysis so the treatment and products can be precisely matched to your scalp's needs on the day.
How long does a Japanese head spa take at Haku?
Head spa treatments at Haku range from 40 minutes (Mini Head Spa) up to 120 minutes (Shiseido Ginza Tokyo YUME Head Spa x Facial). All treatments include a simple blow-dry at the end. A professional blow-dry & styling finish can be added for €28.
Can I add extras to my head spa?
Some head spas can be tailored with add-ons at booking. The Japanese Yume Head Spa offers the widest selection (Shoulder Massage, Facial, Guasha Lifting Head Massage, Facial & Shoulder Massage, Steam Mist). The Guasha Lift Head Spa can be paired with a Facial or a Professional Blowdry. The Shiseido Ginza Tokyo Head Spa includes a professional blow-dry and has no add-ons. The Men's Detox and Mini Head Spa do not have add-ons.
Do I need to do anything before my head spa appointment?
No special preparation is needed. Come with your hair in its natural state, there is no need to wash it beforehand, as deep cleansing is included in every treatment. Avoid heavy product build-up if possible.
Is the head spa only available at Blackrock?
Yes. The YUME Head Spa experience with Takara Belmont Yume beds is exclusively available at our Blackrock location. A Dry Japanese Head Spa (without the Yume bed) is available at both Ranelagh and Blackrock.
How much does a Japanese head spa cost in Dublin?
Haku Blackrock's head spa treatments start from €79 for the 40-minute Mini Head Spa, which is not done on the Yume bed (it is also €55 as a 25-minute add-on to another treatment). The signature YUME Head Spa on the Takara Belmont Yume bed is €149 for 65 minutes, and the longest ritual, with a Shiseido Ginza Tokyo facial, is €350. Booking online shows every option and price.
