About the Nordlys system
Nordlys is a premium, clinically validated IPL platform developed by Candela, one of the most established medical-aesthetic device manufacturers in the world. It uses Selective Waveband Technology with interchangeable handpieces, allowing precise wavelength control for each concern. That precision is what separates Nordlys from the lower-cost IPL devices commonly used in high-street salons: it treats more conditions, more accurately, with less risk of irritation.
What IPL treats
- Sun damage and photoageing
- Pigmentation and age spots
- Rosacea and persistent facial redness
- Thread veins and broken capillaries
- Uneven skin tone and dull complexion
- Early signs of ageing
Recommended course
For pigmentation and sun damage, most clients see strong results from a course of three sessions spaced four weeks apart. For rosacea or vascular concerns, four to six sessions are typically recommended. Maintenance is one or two sessions per year.
What to expect
Treatment takes 20–40 minutes. You'll wear protective eyewear, and each pulse feels like a warm elastic snap. Skin is mildly pink for a few hours afterwards. Pigmented spots often appear darker for 5–10 days before flaking away. SPF 50 daily for two weeks is essential.
Who it's not for
IPL is not suitable on recently tanned skin (within four weeks), darker Fitzpatrick skin types V–VI, during pregnancy, on photosensitive medications such as Roaccutane or doxycycline, or over moles and tattoos. We'll assess your suitability at consultation.
Combine with a PCA Peel
For deeper resurfacing, IPL pairs beautifully with a PCA Skin peel , IPL targets pigment and vascular damage at depth, while the peel refines surface texture for a more complete result.
